Cloud Computing

What Is Cloud Computing

Basically cloud computing is storing and accessing data over the internet, instead of your device’s hard drive. This is widely used term for the use and access multiple server-based computational resources.

A user can use notebook. computer, smart phone or any device to access the server resources. In this application are managed and provided by the cloud server, there is no need for user to download and install the application on their device. All processing and storage are maintained by cloud server only.

“Cloud computing is the newest trend of computing in which dynamically scalable are provided over the internet  as the service”

There are three layers in cloud computing

  • Software-as-a-Service (SaaS): It is the application layer, it includes applications that basically work on the Cloud and are readily available to enterprises on a pay-as-you-go, anytime-anywhere basis.Example of such layer is Microsoft’s online service
  • Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS): It is the platform layer. on this platform developers can develop Web applications  and they need not to install any software on their devices and then deploy those applications without any specialized systems administration skills.
  • Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS):  This is the Infrastructure services layer. All necessary tools like servers, network devices, and storage disks will provided to organizations as services on a need-to basis. Visualization (a software technology that uses a physical resource such as a server and divides it up into virtual resources called Virtual Machines—VMs), allows IaaS providers to offer almost unlimited instances of servers to clients, while making cost-effective use of the hosting hardware.

Different type of cloud computing

Cloud computing  is basically  of three type

1. Public cloud: It is also known as external cloud. In public cloud, computing resources are dynamically provisioned over the internet via web services and application from different customers are likely to mixed together on the cloud server.

2.Private Cloud: It is also known as internal cloud, basically this is on private network.such clouds are built for the exclusive user of one client, ensure full security, control over data and quality of service.

3. Hybrid Cloud: As the name suggest hybrid cloud has the combined feature of public as well as private cloud model. Its determine hoe to distribute resource/application to both public and private .

Example of cloud computing
  • E-mail services:  G-mail. yahoo and Hotmail
  • Cloud storage services : Google drive, drag box, and sky drive
  • Cloud music services: Google music,Amazon cloud player
  • Cloud Application: Google Docs and Photoshop express
Benefits of cloud computing
  • Software as a subscription
  • Reduced software maintenance
  • Increased reliability
  • Environment friendly
  • Cost Reduction
